Server Administrator
Our client is seeking an experienced Server Administrator to manage, maintain, and support enterprise server infrastructure with a focus on virtualization and backup solutions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring system availability, performance, and security across physical and virtual environments. This role requires hands-on experience with VMware technologies, backup and disaster recovery solutions, and Windows/Linux server administration. Key Responsibilities: Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers (Windows and/or Linux). Administer VMware environments, including ESXi hosts, vCenter, and virtual machines. Manage backup and disaster recovery solutions (Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik, or similar). Monitor server performance, resource utilization, and capacity planning. Implement and maintain system security policies, patches, and updates. Troubleshoot hardware, OS, and virtualization-related issues. Support storage solutions and ensure proper integration with backup systems. Maintain documentation of infrastructure configurations, policies, and procedures. Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and incident response. Provide on-call support for critical system outages and escalated issues. Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to support enterprise applications and services. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience). 3+ years of hands-on server administration experience. Proven experience with VMware virtualization (ESXi, vCenter, vSphere). Strong knowledge of backup and disaster recovery technologies (Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik, Veritas, etc.). Experience with Windows Server (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP) and/or Linux administration. Familiarity with storage area networks (SAN/NAS) and enterprise storage concepts. Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs). Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and documentation abilities. Preferred Qualifications: VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or similar certification. Backup solution certification (e.g., Veeam Certified Engineer VMCE). Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) for automation.
