Shelters of Saratoga is the leading housing organization in Saratoga County with the mission of “transforming the lives of our neighbors facing homelessness with safe shelter, supportive services, and a path to independence.” Shelters of Saratoga provides emergency shelter through its seasonal Code Blue program and year-round Walworth Street shelters and supportive housing throughout Saratoga Springs. The role of Executive Director involves skillfully coordinating with various stakeholders and embracing the position of a community changemaker dedicated to finding solutions for homelessness. This includes nurturing relationships with stakeholders and community partners to ensure that all residents receive the highest level of care. The position of Executive Director is the senior management position in the Organization and reports directly to the Board of Directors. This role ensures program compliance, development of the strategic plan to address homelessness within the Saratoga community, and serves as a voice for those facing homelessness. The Executive Director’s primary responsibilities are to: Direct the staff as it works to fulfill the mission of the Organization Engage with and seek support and guidance from the Organization’s senior team representing Programming, Finance, Development and Marketing Provide strategic guidance and support in partnership with the Associate Executive Director of the day-to-day operation of the case managed shelter, supportive apartments, outreach programs and the Code Blue emergency shelter program Assess all programs, modify accordingly and seek appropriate growth opportunities, innovative solutions and best practices that reflect the Organization’s mission Represent the Organization and the population it serves publicly and privately by advocating for policies and programs that address homelessness Work to advance the strategic goals and objectives of the Organization Following is a more detailed description of these responsibilities: Board Support and Development

The Executive Director shall On a regular basis, inform the Board of program development, financial and organizational plans, developments affecting the condition of the Organization and any factors that influence it. The ED shall maintain open and ongoing communication with the Board and actively seek the Board’s feedback. Ensure that Board policies and bylaws are current with regard to applicable statutes and regulations and will see to the effective implementation of all plans and policies authorized by the Board. Actively engage and support the Board’s governance process including the recruitment of Board members. Maintain official records and documents of the Organization, including but not limited to Board materials, and assure that it is in compliance with federal, state and local requirements and policies. Attend and guide development of the agenda for all Board meetings and provide informed input regarding the Board’s deliberations and shall implement policies and procedures adopted by the Board. Strategic Planning

The Executive Director shall Take the lead in assuring that the Organization’s strategic plan is current and shall create meaningful programs that support and advance the strategic plan. Remain current regarding developments in the field of homelessness, particularly policies and best practices and their impact on the Organization and those in the community challenged by homelessness. Collaborate with stakeholders and community members to advance the interests and welfare of those confronting homelessness and creatively steward philanthropic friends and stakeholders who share a commitment to supporting this population in Saratoga County. Communication, Marketing and Community Outreach

The Executive Director shall Provide direction and guidance in the development of marketing and publication materials to ensure that the Organization’s activities, its programs and goals are successfully shared in the community. Serve as the lead communicator and face of the Organization with the public. Maintain a strong network of partnerships and working relationships with public officials and community organizations, particularly those whose mission and objectives complement and reflect those of the Organization. Exercise appropriate discretion regarding communication with community organizations and governmental agencies so as to promote and advance a favorable view toward the Organization and the population it serves. Confidently serve in the role of primary contact for media inquiries and media outreach, or delegate as appropriate. Invest in an active presence and voice in the community. Provide proactive and engaged leadership in fundraising activities, including identifying and promoting funding opportunities from donors, granting organizations, and public funding sources. Foster philanthropic activity, provided through thoughtful and consistent stewardship of donors and foundations that will inspire consistent support for impactful programming. Qualifications

Human Resource Management

The Executive Director shall Be responsible for hiring and supervising all staff of the Organization and shall delegate this responsibility as required to most effectively utilize the resources and time available to the Executive Director while maintaining oversight and ultimate management responsibility for the staff. Ensure that job descriptions are current and accurate and that performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner and that appropriate human resource rules and regulations are complied with. Promote staff development and education and actively encourage staff to advance in their positions. Provide a method for fair and reasonable resolution of staff grievances and provide coaching and other assistance, as appropriate, to encourage staff development. Promote a positive workplace culture that encourages personal growth and development and reflects the population it serves. Fiscal Management

The Executive Director shall Ensure that the Organization’s fiscal affairs are in order and report to the Board in a timely and regular manner the fiscal status of the organization. Where variances, anomalies or unforeseen financial developments occur, the Executive Director shall promptly advise the Board of same and shall propose solutions to all matters so that the Organization operates within its budget guidelines. Assure that at all times the Organization has the resources necessary to carry out its work, to develop contingency plans where necessary and to develop and execute plans based on Board input. Develop and maintain policies and procedures to routinely monitor the fiscal health of the Organization so as to protect its fiscal resources from abuse. Education

BA or BS degree from a qualified higher education institution Experience

Minimum of five years with leadership responsibilities in a non-profit organization or public agency Demonstrated competence with regard to implementing operational and strategic plans Demonstrated competence regarding the management and accountability of an organization’s fiscal resources Demonstrated competence in community-based fundraising Skills

Strong personal commitment toward improving the lives of people confronting homelessness Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and team-building skills Confidence in community engagement and partnering Experience in crisis intervention and conflict resolution Familiarity with local, state and federal regulations affecting shelter operations A working knowledge of office and industry software products including the utilization of Artificial Intelligence assistance, and familiarity with privacy and confidentiality requirements Proficiency in data analysis and program evaluation methodologies Strong written and verbal communication skills A confident presence capable of effectively and professionally handling difficult interpersonal conflicts Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion The capacity to function independently The flexibility to work irregular hours and to respond to emergency situations Salary Range : $85-95,000 IsExpired : false
