SBH is seeking a qualified Youth Support Partner who serves the role as a Peer Recovery Specialist. This individual will provide person-centered strength-based and recovery oriented services to the youth. The individual will assist with successful engagement with the team process, advocacy, and connection to formal and informal resources that helps youth understand and navigate services to build resiliency. The individual will use personal past experiences as a child/youth with firsthand, lived experience with mental health and/or a substance use disorder to provide peer support to children through age 21 that have a serious emotional disturbance and/or a substance use disorder who are served by this agency. Services are expected to improve the outcomes for youth with complex needs who are involved with multiple systems and to increase the youth’s confidence and capacity to manage their own services and supports while promoting recovery and health relationships. This position is based in the school and community. There is a work from home opportunity available after 6 months of employment.
Responsibilities
Assists the youth to understand and manage information received related to diagnosis, treatment, and services Mentors and coaches youth to act on strengths and use setbacks to increase resiliency and to promote the development of self-advocacy skills. Facilitates and models the use of positive self-management techniques, problem-solving skills, coping mechanisms, symptom management, and communication strategies identified in the Recovery, Resiliency and Wellness Plan. Participates in the treatment team and staff meetings. Documents all services in the youth’s electronic health record and complies with all regulations. Connects youth to services and collaborates with support and service providers and encourages the youth to effectively use family and community support. Documents referrals and collaboration with other providers in the youth’s health record. Provides individual and group peer support services in the office and in the community. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required Certification as a Youth Support Partner or ability to obtain certification as a Youth Support Partner required Must be between the ages of 21-30. This is a bona fide occupational qualification (BFOQ) Must meet all criminal background and drug screening requirements. Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required.
