We are seeking a Principal UX Designer with deep curiosity, systems thinking, and a passion for shaping intuitive, compliant, and scalable user experiences in payroll administration. You will conceptualize complex user journeys across web and mobile platforms, translate them into workflows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes, and collaborate with Design Systems and AI strategy teams to advance our UX vision for HR and payroll software, addressing regulatory compliance, data privacy, auditability, and localization. As a senior member of the team, you will influence product strategy and mentor peers. You will empower HR professionals, payroll administrators, and employees with accurate, efficient, and accessible experiences. You will bridge UX and engineering to deliver solutions considering legal frameworks, pay cycles, tax complexity, and sensitive financial data. Strong communication and domain awareness are essential as you present concepts to stakeholders and align with cross-functional teams to build trusted payroll and payment products. Key Responsibilities

Strategic Design Leadership & Vision: Set and drive the UX vision for payroll products, align with business goals and regulatory requirements, influence product strategy, and promote user-centered design across the organization. Information Architecture & Service Design Thinking: Define and evolve information architecture and service design for complex payroll ecosystems; create scalable navigation and end-to-end experiences across platforms. AI-Driven Innovation & Scalable Design Systems: Lead exploration of Generative AI to transform workflows and improve usability; evolve design systems for consistency and global localization. End-to-End Product Design Leadership: Translate research into concepts, wireframes, and prototypes; guide testing, iteration, and implementation to deliver high-quality experiences. Program Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Align design outcomes with business strategy and feasibility; collaborate with senior product and engineering leaders to ensure scalable solutions. User Research & Data-Informed Decision Making: Oversee research agendas; use qualitative and quantitative data to shape strategy and measure UX impact. Process Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Scale design processes, adopt emerging practices, and leverage AI-driven methodologies to evolve product development. Mentorship, Talent Growth & Design Culture: Lead and grow the design organization; recruit and develop top design talent and foster a culture of excellence and collaboration. Basic Qualifications

Mastery of design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision, Adobe XD). Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and Agile tools (JIRA, Confluence) is a plus. Proven ability to think systems and design across multi-platform ecosystems. Deep familiarity with emerging technologies, including AI, with the ability to evaluate and integrate them effectively. 10+ years of experience designing enterprise applications, with leadership or Senior+ experience. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science, Graphic Design, Information Sciences, Psychology, or related field. Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence at the executive level. Portfolio demonstrating design craft, strategic influence, and measurable impact on products and organizations. Preferred Experiences

Domain-Driven UX Expertise in payroll, compensation, tax compliance, time tracking, and related domains. Empathy for Payroll Personas: deep understanding of payroll admins, HR professionals, and employees under regulatory constraints. Localized & Global Pay Design Considerations: design experiences adaptable to regional payroll laws, currencies, and tax rules. We work in a collaborative hybrid model. 3 days per week onsite in UKG offices is required. Equal Opportunity Employer

The pay range for this position is $142,100.00 to $204,200.00, with base pay varying by skills, experience, and location.
