physician Biller and Coder
Job Duties
Checking eligibility and benefits verification for treatments.
Reviewing patient bills for accuracy and completeness, and obtaining any missing information.
Perform coding, posting charges and completion of claims to payer in a timely manner.
Work claims and claim denials to ensure maximum reimbursement for services provided.
Calling insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments if necessary.
Identifying and billing secondary or tertiary insurances.
Researching and appealing denied claims.
Answering all patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts.
Processing and posting payments.
Setting up patient payment plans.
Education and Experience Required
Preferred billing and coding certification/specialist.
A minimum of one year of work experience in medical billing and coding.
New Graduates are welcome.
Knowledge in the following areas is preferred
Insurance guidelines including HMO/PPO, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer requirements and systems.
Problem-solving skills to research and resolve discrepancies, denials, appeals, collections.
Effective communication abilities for phone contacts with insurance payers to resolve issues.
Customer service skills for interacting with patients regarding medical claims and payments.
Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-10 codes.
Maintaining patient confidentiality as per the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act ( HIPAA).
Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR).
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Able to multi -task and meet deadlines.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
