NOTICE: This position requires to be U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder. We are offering paid housing with per diem Primary Responsibilities: Welding and Joining: Performing welding operations to join metal components of ships, including hulls, frames, and structural parts. Using various MIG/MAG welding methods : one side or on ceramic backings and using 135 (solid wire) or 136 (flux-cored wire) processes. Being able to weld in different positions: up-right, vertical up, horizontal or overhead. Ensuring strong, secure welds that meet industry standards and specifications. Preparation and Setup: Preparing materials for welding by cleaning, cutting, and shaping metal components. Setting up welding equipment and selecting appropriate welding rods, wire, and gas. Assembling and aligning parts to be welded according to blueprints and technical drawings. Quality Control: Inspecting completed welds for quality, strength, and precision. Conducting tests such as x-rays and ultrasonic inspections to ensure weld integrity. Repairing and reworking defective welds to meet quality standards. Safety Compliance: Adhering to all safety regulations and procedures during welding operations. Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including helmets, gloves, and protective clothing. Ensuring a safe working environment by identifying and mitigating potential hazards. Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining records of welding operations, including materials used, work performed, and inspections. Reporting any issues, defects, or safety concerns to supervisors. Collaborating with quality control inspectors and engineers to ensure compliance with design specifications. Maintenance of Equipment: Performing routine maintenance and repairs on welding equipment. Ensuring welding tools and machinery are in good working condition. Troubleshooting and resolving equipment malfunctions. Required Knowledge and Skills: Technical Skills: Proficiency in various welding techniques and equipment. Knowledge of welding properties of different metals and alloys. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols. Attention to Detail: High level of precision in welding operations to ensure strong and defect-free welds. Ability to perform detailed inspections and identify any issues. Physical Stamina: Physical fitness and stamina to perform welding tasks in various positions and environments. Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions. Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve welding-related issues. Creativity in adapting welding techniques to different situations and materials. Personal Qualities: Safety-Conscious: Strong commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
