Estimated payment breakdown for travelers: $52.61/hr or $1894/wk (36 hrs./wk) = ($1246/wk non-taxable/stipend + $648/wk taxable pay on w2) Job Title: Certified Scrub Tech Location: Bangor, ME Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Guaranteed hours a week: 36 Start: As soon as credentialed Job ID: 289111 JOB SUMMARY Per the standards of the Association of Surgical Technologist surgical technologist work under the direct supervision of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures. The ST is responsible for ensuring the operating room environment is safe, equipment functions properly, and the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. The ST handles instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. The technologist has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. Duties of the technologist include, but are not limited to: checking supplies and equipment needed for a procedure; scrubs, gowns and gloves self, surgeon and assistants; performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operating and before the incision is closed; assists in draping the sterile field; passes instruments to the surgeon during the procedure; maintains the highest standard of sterile technique; assists with terminal cleaning of room; cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization and assist in prepping the surgical suite for the next patient. The ST is also responsible for working with new employees and students and help train them in the ST role. The ST is not permitted to function in the circulating nurse roll, first assistant roll and is restricted from administering medications and completing patient records. Duties of the technologist include, but are not limited to: checking supplies and equipment needed for a procedure; scrubs, gowns and gloves self, surgeon and assistants; performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operating and before the incision is closed; assists in draping the sterile field; passes instruments to the surgeon during the procedure; maintains the highest standard of sterile technique; assists with terminal cleaning of room; leans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization assist in prepping the surgical suite for the next patient The Scrub Tech is also responsible for working with new employees and students and help train them in the Scrub Tech role.
