Frontend Software Engineer
to join our team at our Operation Support Center in White Plains, NY. With nearly 2,300 retail locations, Mavis is one of the largest, independently-owned tire sales and automotive repair chains in the United States.
Our engineers are engaged in the full spectrum of product development, working with a team to write great software and build engaging products. Our web stack today includes React, , TypeScript, .NET, and we have Go in production as well.
Qualifications & Skills
To be eligible for the software engineer position, you must:
Possess 5+ years of professional experience in frontend development, with a strong portfolio of modern web applications.
Be proficient in
14 at an expert level, including SSR, ISR, and static site generation (SSG) techniques. Have a deep understanding of React and the modern JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystem. Demonstrate an ability to architect and implement SEO-optimized applications, including decisions around server-side vs. client-side rendering tradeoffs. Have a solid grasp of Core Web Vitals, performance budgets, and Lighthouse scoring for high-ranking, high-performance websites. Possess experience integrating dynamic content in a performant and SEO-friendly way (e.g., headless CMS, dynamic routing with structured data). Be familiar with technical SEO best practices including crawlability, indexing, structured data (JSON-LD), and metadata optimization. Have a strong working knowledge of accessibility (a11y) standards, semantic HTML, and cross-browser/device compatibility. Possess experience with modern frontend tooling and CI/CD workflows, including Vercel or similar platforms. Possess excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly working with designers, backend engineers, and SEO stakeholders. Experience with log file analysis, debugging SEO issues, and a familiarity with cloud services, CMS platforms(i.e. Contentful), and SEO-logic-pagination rules are a plus. Why Mavis?
