We are seeking an Assistant Buildings and Grounds Supervisor to lead our maintenance team in Boyne City, Cheboygan, Rogers City, Gaylord, Grayling, Roscommon, and Houghton Lake. As well as the remaining buildings as needed. The Assistant Building and Grounds Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of our buildings and grounds, including planning, organizing, and directing staff to perform repairs, landscaping, and preventative maintenance while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and budgetary constraints; supervising a team of building maintenance staff; participating in hands-on projects; and coordinating with contractors for larger projects. Must be willing to travel throughout most of Michigan. Key Responsibilities: · Staff Management: · Hire, train, and supervise maintenance staff. · Assign tasks and monitor performance to ensure quality standards are met. · Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback. · Address employee concerns and disciplinary issues. · Maintenance and Repair: · Inspect buildings and grounds regularly to identify maintenance needs. · Respond to maintenance requests and work orders promptly. · Coordinate repairs with contractors for complex issues. · Oversee preventative maintenance programs for equipment and facilities. · Groundskeeping: · Manage landscaping activities including mowing, trimming, planting, weeding, and snow removal. · Ensure proper irrigation and fertilization of lawns and plants. · Maintain outdoor amenities like walkways and patios. · Budgeting and Procurement: · Develop and manage the building and grounds maintenance budget. · Monitor expenses related to supplies, equipment, and contractor services. · Purchase necessary maintenance materials and equipment. · Safety and Compliance: · Enforce safety procedures for staff and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. · Conduct safety inspections and address potential hazards. · Maintain documentation on maintenance activities and safety records. Required Skills and Qualifications: · Technical Knowledge: Understanding of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical), groundskeeping practices, and maintenance procedures. · Supervisory Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, delegate tasks, and resolve conflicts. · Problem-Solving: Capability to identify issues, assess solutions, and implement repairs efficiently. · Communication Skills: Effective communication with staff, contractors, and management regarding maintenance needs and project updates. · Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical tasks like lifting heavy objects, working outdoors in various weather conditions, and operating power equipment.
