Camaraderie Clubs, a management company started by the Co-Founder and former CEO of Travis Mathew, is looking to redefine the landscape of Country Club Membership for the next generation of Club Member. We own two premier club properties: Spanish Hills Club and The Huntington Club.

It's an exciting time to join our clubs and we are currently seeking a Director of Agronomy & Facilities to join our team. The position will provide support to both of our locations, with The Huntington Club designated as the primary base location.
Role Summary
As the Director of Agronomy & Facilities, you are entrusted with the maintenance, operations, and management of multiple golf courses. You will manage maintenance inputs to the golf course while conserving and protecting natural resources. As well as directly influence the playing areas and landscapes with which golfers interact, ensuring maximum playability and profitability. The Director of Agronomy coordinates operations with the club manager, golf professional, and communicates with relevant membership groups and committees in membership club organizations.
In your role you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of our multiple properties, including buildings and equipment. This role requires a proactive and versatile individual with excellent project planning and management, budgeting, and problem-solving skills. This role will also ensure that our properties meet all state, county, and city safety and compliance requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum of a 2-year degree in Turfgrass Science or a related Agronomy field; a 4-year degree is preferred but not required.
Advanced knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass management practices, a working knowledge of golf facility construction principles, practices, and methods, and a thorough understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf.
3-5 years of turfgrass management experience.
High degree of administrative and executive ability, particularly in problem-solving and decision-making.
Proficiency in computer use, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and other relevant applications.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of current federal, state, and local laws and regulations affecting golf course operations, including employment, safety, and environmental standards.
Participation in continuing education opportunities such as seminars, workshops, correspondence courses, field days, and trade shows.
Possess or be able to obtain the state / federal / local required pesticide applicator license within 90 days of employment.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team, with strong interpersonal and coaching skills.
Knowledge of financial forecasting and budgeting for golf course operations.
Understanding of internal controls and ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
Positive attitude and ability to interact well with others in a team environment.
GCSAA membership is preferred but not required
Actively demonstrates, encourages, trains, and models safety rules and guidelines in accordance with company, OSHA, EPA, DNR, and other state and federal law requirements.
Ensures documentation of safety training and orientation for all employees, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe equipment operation.
Investigates loss-producing incidents and reviews prevention recommendations with employees.
Conducts and documents safety meetings and training, offering improvement suggestions.
Reports on safety or hazard concerns and work-related injuries to management.
Take personal responsibility for safety every day.
Proven experience in facilities management, property assessment, and vendor management.
Strong technical and mechanical skills with the ability to perform hands-on repairs and maintenance.
Excellent project management and organizational abilities.
Proficiency in budgeting and financial management.
Exceptional problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
Responsibilities
Leads the construction, maintenance, and renovation of the golf course(s).
Oversee the maintenance and repair of construction and golf course maintenance equipment.
Renders professional advice, opinions, assistance, and services to the facility's board of directors, general manager, or managing body as required.
Participates in all long-range planning meetings to align maintenance with strategic goals.
Organizes and executes precise programs for the application of pesticides, fertilizers, and seed, ensuring proper documentation and safe handling/storage.
Practices sound agronomic principles to maintain healthy turf and landscapes.
Establishes overseeding (where applicable) programs to ensure consistent playing conditions.
Scouts the golf course regularly for insect, weed, and disease problems, diagnosing issues and taking corrective action.
The Director of Agronomy assumes responsibility for managing and maintaining golf course properties, which may include:
The golf course(s), including greens, tees, fairways, rough, bunkers, and cart paths.
Maintenance equipment and the golf car fleet.
Clubhouse grounds, landscaping, and other recreational facilities (e.g., tennis courts, swimming pools).
Open spaces, wooded areas, unused acreage, and areas outside the perimeter fence.
Sod farm, nursery, or other properties as specified by the supervisor.
Construction, renovation, and/or reconstruction of such properties, whether performed by maintenance staff or outside contractors.
Supervision and maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems, including pump stations.
Acquisition of equipment and purchasing necessary supplies to maintain both club properties.
Inventory control and oversight of equipment maintenance programs.
Prepares and manages annual budgets for maintenance and capital improvements, aligning with long-range plans and defined maintenance standards.
Interviews, hires, trains, and supervises staff, with authority to terminate employment, appraise performance, reward, discipline, and resolve issues.
Plans all maintenance and project work, applying agronomic and administrative expertise to achieve maintenance standards and long-range goals.
Oversees scheduling and routing of personnel and equipment to accomplish work efficiently.
Frequently inspects the golf course and related areas to evaluate management standards and implement changes as needed.
Facilities Management
Develop and implement a comprehensive facilities management strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives.
Oversee the maintenance, repair, and improvement of all properties and their facilities, as well as overseeing the dedicated facilities teams at each property.
Budgeting and Financial Management
Develop and manage the department facilities budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and adherence to financial targets.
Monitor expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and prepare regular budget reports.
Safety and Compliance
Ensure that all facilities meet safety, health, and environmental regulations, as well as comply with requirements specific to our industry.
Implement safety protocols and emergency response procedures to protect employees and assets.
Hands-On Technical Skills
Possess the ability to troubleshoot and fix various issues related to club facilities and equipment.
Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks as needed.
Property and Equipment Assessment
Conduct regular assessments of company properties, buildings, equipment, and machinery to identify maintenance and repair needs.
Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance schedule and preventive maintenance program to ensure the longevity of assets.
Project Planning and Management
Lead and oversee facility improvement projects, renovations, and upgrades from conception to completion.
Develop project plans, budgets, and timelines, and ensure projects are executed within scope and budget.
Vendor Management
Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to obtain quotes, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely delivery of services and materials.
Monitor vendor performance and hold them accountable for meeting quality and timeline expectations.
Proactive Problem Solving
Take a proactive approach to identify potential issues and implement preventive measures.
Demonstrate an ability to "figure it out" and find innovative solutions to complex problems.
The Director of Agronomy & Facilities will be required to execute other duties not listed above as assigned by the COO | General Manager.
Compensation
$225,000 annual salary
Effective January 1, 2026, this role may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus of up to 10% of the base salary
