Overview
The Shipping & Receiving Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient, accurate, and timely flow of materials, finished goods, and supplies into and out of the facility. This position is responsible for overseeing all shipping and receiving operations, managing documentation and inventory accuracy, and leading a warehouse team to uphold safety, quality, and productivity standards. The role requires close coordination with production and customer service teams to support smooth and effective operations. Key Responsibilities: Shipping & Receiving Operations Oversee all inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring accuracy, timely processing, and proper documentation. Verify incoming deliveries against purchase orders and invoices, promptly reporting discrepancies. Package and prepare outbound shipments according to customer specifications and carrier requirements. Coordinate with freight carriers and vendors to optimize cost, reliability, and service quality. Inventory Management & Documentation Maintain accurate records of materials, parts, and finished goods in the inventory management system. Manage and organize shipping/receiving documents including bills of lading, packing slips, and shipping logs. Conduct regular cycle counts and assist with physical inventory processes. Team Leadership Lead, train, and mentor warehouse staff on shipping, receiving, and inventory control best practices. Assign daily responsibilities and monitor team performance, accuracy, and adherence to safety protocols. Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and support for employee development and process improvement. Safety & Compliance Enforce safety standards, OSHA regulations, and proper material handling procedures. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse and dock area. Ensure all shipping and receiving activities comply with quality standards and regulatory requirements. Cross-Functional Coordination Work closely with production and procurement to ensure timely availability of materials. Collaborate with customer service and sales to provide shipment updates and resolve delivery issues. Support continuous improvement initiatives to streamline workflows and reduce errors or delays. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required. 3+ years of experience in warehouse distribution, with a strong background in shipping and receiving operations. 3+ years of leadership experience in a warehouse setting, such as a supervisor or team lead role. Ability to safely perform heavy lifting and meet the physical demands of a warehouse environment. Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and coordinate a team. Bilingual in Spanish and English is highly preferred.
