SUMMARY: The Director of Transportation is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Transportation Department. Duties include directly supervising hourly Team Members, scheduling, inventory, purchasing, record-keeping, and dispatching vehicles. Responsibilities must be performed in accordance with all Company standards, policies, and procedures. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully. Oversee daily operations of the Transportation Department. Lead, train, and directly supervise the transportation team, including VIP Drivers. Act as a player-coach, providing hands-on support and guidance to ensure five-star service standards are always met. Manage daily operations and key administrative functions, including financial oversight of payroll, purchasing, and billing. Ensure all departmental procedures are efficient and aligned with financial goals. Consistently look to improve the Transportation Department by coaching Team Members and recognizing good behavior. Ensure procedures are created, maintained and followed. Take an active role in managing and reporting on all departmental budgets, including tracking grant expenditures and timelines. Be responsible for ensuring compliance and seeking out new funding opportunities. Ensure that all company vehicles are maintained to a Five Star Experience and service standards. Respond to Guest inquiries regarding transportation. Be a hands-on leader who can step in to assist with all departmental duties, including dispatching, to ensure seamless operations during peak times or staffing shortages. Develop and implement short- and long-term plans to optimize fleet efficiency, enhance guest satisfaction, and improve operational workflows. This includes researching and proposing new technology or fleet upgrades Ensure that passengers are transported safely to their destinations. Use knowledge of the local area, GPS, and/or mapping applications to ensure the shortest and safest route to destination. Communicate effectively and clearly with Valet Dispatch; seek guidance from dispatch for any situations that are out of the ordinary and prior to acting when possible. Maintain the highest standards for vehicle safety and cleanliness. Lead by example by performing regular vehicle inspections and demonstrating proper vehicle maintenance procedures for the entire fleet. Ensure that the inside and outside of the vehicle is clean and ready for use prior to starting and at the conclusion of each trip. Support audit preparation and respond to grantor inquiries. Ensure all Tribal owned Vehicles are being maintained. Complete a pre & post-trip inspection per U.S. Department of Transportation regulations. Be knowledgeable regarding directions, Spotlight29 Casino/Tortoise Rock Casino property information, offer information and assistance to Guests. Be knowledgeable of all gaming and non-gaming offerings, events, and promotions at Spotlight29 Casino/Tortoise Rock Casino. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carry out supervisory responsibilities which include but are not limited to interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (MUST BE DOCUMENTED): Bachelor's degree in business, Transportation Management, or a related field is preferred. A combination of relevant education and extensive hands-on experience (5+ years in a transportation leadership role) may be accepted in lieu of a degree Equivalent experience (2–3 years in grants or transportation management) may substitute for formal education. A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in transportation, with at least two (2) years in a direct supervisory or leadership role. Experience in a hospitality or casino environment is highly desirable. Two (2) years of experience in grant writing, administration, or transportation/logistics preferred. Must have a strong knowledge of/or the ability to learn applicable Department of Transportation regulations including DOT mandated drug and alcohol test requirements. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members and Management in both written and verbal form. Demonstrated ability to be a working leader who can manage a team effectively while also performing hands-on operational duties when required. Must have strong leadership qualities include excellent communication skills, the ability to motivate, and a positive attitude. Must be able to work well under pressure and can multitask. Must be at least 21 years of age. CERTIFICATION, LICENSES AND ANY ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must pass periodic random drug screens. Holds a Class B License with a P endorsement. Must be able to pass background suitability investigation. Must obtain a Tribal Gaming License. Must obtain all other applicable certifications and licenses. Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States within 72 hours of employment. Employees may be occasionally required to work in low light conditions and may be exposed to loud noise for extended periods. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Multiple locations. Some enterprises are open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week; therefore, you must be flexible to work any and all hours. Must be available for emergency calls 24/7. Must be available to work weekend and holidays. Some enterprises are gaming facilities. Some enterprises are not a smoke-free environment. Surveillance cameras and audio equipment monitor the premises recording activity throughout most of the facilities 24 hours per day, 7 days per week basis.
