Overview
Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Paint Expert Consultant to join our Specialty Additives business at our Wilmington, DE site. This is a temporary role expected to span approximately 6 months. This position will report to the Sr. Director Innovation, Specialty Additives.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Training the Specialty Additives Wilmington technical team on the fundamentals of Architecture Coating.
Educating TSD scientists and chemists on typical North American customer Architecture Coating formulations.
Assisting in the development of starting formulations across various paint segments and binder systems, for new product development screening purposes
Supporting the creation of selling tools to promote Ashland Coating Additives in Architecture Coating market, including Rheology Modifiers, Wetting Agents, Phosphate Ester Surfactants, Defoamers, Block Additives, Dispersants, and other related technologies.
Actively contribute to the organizational goals by taking initiative, executing on goals and focusing on performance and safety
Improve the organization capacity and capabilities through building collaborative relationships, optimizing diverse talent and utilizing positive communications and influence with others
In order to be qualified for this role, you
must possess
the following:
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Strong knowledge of architectural coatings, including formulation principles, raw materials, and application methods.
5+ years of experience in paint/coatings formulation, additives technology, or technical service within the coatings industry.
Proven ability to train, mentor, and educate technical teams and scientists, translating complex technical concepts into practical application.
Hands-on experience creating and optimizing formulations across multiple paint segments (interior/exterior, waterborne/solventborne, binder systems).
Demonstrated responsible and ethical behavior at all times
The ability to help the company drive greater value through understanding the business, making complex decisions and creating the new and different
