As part of ERM’s Capital Project Delivery (CPD) service, we seek an experienced biologist/regulatory specialist to join our global consulting firm in this senior role. The ideal candidate will have experience conducting and leading environmental permitting efforts with California utility companies, along with technical expertise leading natural resource permitting, CEQA/NEPA, and large-scale capital projects in California. Responsibilities

Serve as Project Biologist/Regulatory Specialist for environmental impact assessment under CEQA- and NEPA-related activities and natural resource permitting in support of ERM clients’ capital projects (e.g., data centers, power generation, electrical transmission, renewable energy projects). Contribute to preparing technical studies and impact assessment documents, including Environmental Impact Reports (EIRs) and Biological Constraints Reports, serving in roles ranging from program manager to lead technical expert to QA/QC. Lead programs to develop permit strategies, specify best management practices; prepare permit applications and negotiate conditions with applicable state and federal agencies. Direct permitting and compliance for telecom, energy infrastructure and other linear development projects with emphasis on agencies such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, California Coastal Commission, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, California Fish and Wildlife Service, and Regional Water Quality Control Boards. Collaborate with Account Directors/Managers on client account development, sales, and delivery of ERM’s consulting services to deliver value to clients in the electric/gas transmission and generation siting/development markets. Participate in the growth and development of a high-performance team, oversee project work of staff consultants, mentor staff, identify emerging talent, and help team members reach their potential. Work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment to build ERM’s global business and lead client and practice teams; drive innovation within the Impact Assessment and Planning service offering to stay ahead of client needs. Meet business health & safety performance standards, financial targets, project budgets and schedules, client satisfaction, and contractual requirements. Requirements

BS/MS in biology, environmental science or related field. 6+ years of consulting experience, including substantial experience with the electric/gas transmission and generation markets in California. Business acumen to understand risks and opportunities, and to provide enterprise-wide solutions for clients. Track record of delivering multi-million dollar environmental programs or winning large, strategic projects. Established relationships with California utility companies (e.g., PG&E, SCE, Sempra) to leverage opportunities. Ability to cultivate new client relationships with Bay Area technology, media, and telecommunications clients, in collaboration with account teams. Strong knowledge of CEQA/NEPA impact assessment and related regulatory approvals; recognized technical expertise in the market; positive regulator relationships. Strong people leadership skills; experience managing and growing a team. Collaborative, results-driven mindset aligned with ERM’s global objectives. Compensation and Benefits

For the Principal Technical Consultant, Biologist/Regulatory Specialist, Power and Renewables (Senior Level), annual base pay is anticipated to be USD 106,480 – 148,700. Pay will be based on factors including education, qualifications, experience, location, performance, and business needs. Compensation may be outside the range in certain circumstances. This role is eligible for an annual discretionary performance bonus.
