Overview
POSITION SUMMARY: Site location: Alpha Cornerstone and Shirakawa (school locations subject to change due to reorganization. Will be in the Franklin McKinley School District or San Jose Unified School District). The goal of CORAL San José is to improve academic achievement in an after-school setting. Serving multiple schools throughout San José, CORAL will provide high quality literacy support and project-based learning activities linked to classroom curricula and Common Core. CORAL seeks to strengthen children’s foundation of basic skills, while providing them with a rich and high quality literacy and enrichment curriculum. The Site Manager will oversee the After School Instructors (CASIs) and Activity Assistants (AAs) to ensure maintenance of the CORAL program.
Responsibilities
Oversee, supervise and guide all aspects of CORAL program to ensure maintenance of high quality and integrity of program
Work closely with school personnel to ensure that extended-day program integrates with school day programs
Manage and supervise delivery and quality of balanced literacy, YET model
Work collaboratively with multiple agencies to ensure high quality programming
Attend all CORAL professional development trainings and school related activities as appropriate
Provide supervision for appropriate staff, i.e., Team Leaders, and external partners
Recruit and retain participants
Complete monthly data entry and any other compliance related work
Administer CORAL site budget and assist in grant writing
Oversee and ensure evaluations compliance at school site level
Maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity in performing all duties
Ability to work with parents and other outside stakeholders
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field; or educational equivalent
Prior experience developing or implementing programs for school aged children
Experience working effectively in high poverty, under performing schools and racially diverse communities
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Bilingual/biliterate, English/Spanish or Vietnamese/English
Knowledge of Common Core
Takes initiative/Self starter
Excellent organizational, administrative, and writing skills
Ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences
Sensitivity to or expertise with racial and cultural differences
Ability to collaborate with diverse agencies and professionals
Supervisory experience
High level of computer proficiency
Budget management skills
Data entry experience
Elementary or middle school site experience
Physical Requirements
Ability to work at a desk for extended periods of time.
Ability to use a computer workstation.
Ability to participate in physical activities at school sites.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Other Qualifications
Criminal background check via livescan fingerprint
Must have TB test performed and submit results
Automobile, valid driver’s license and auto insurance per agency policy; or have access to reliable transportation
Working Conditions
Work will be mostly indoors/outdoors even during times of inclement weather.
Some work will be spent indoors in a classroom setting, other times will be outdoors doing education activities.
Hours and Other Conditions
Standard office hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
CORAL program hours are aligned with school site hours; hours are typically between 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
