Overview Associate Director, Project Management – Lab Automation & Transformation position at BioSpace (Cambridge office). This role reports to the Head of Research Program Management and focuses on program excellence, change management, and cross-functional transformation initiatives within lab operations and automation.

Key Responsibilities

Change Management: Lead and monitor change initiatives that facilitate adoption of new technologies, processes, and ways of working across the organization.

Program Leadership: Plan, execute, monitor, resource, and close strategic transformation projects, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and on budget.

Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the central point of contact between cross-functional teams and senior leadership; communicate progress and escalate issues as needed.

Communications: Develop and deliver audience-appropriate updates and workshops to explain complex information to various stakeholders.

Strategic Oversight: Align program objectives with business strategy and research innovation goals in collaboration with senior leaders.

Risk Management: Identify risks at the workstream level and collaborate on mitigation strategies to minimize disruption.

Continuous Improvement: Analyze data with key stakeholders to drive program enhancements.

Financial Oversight: Develop and manage budgets, track expenses, and ensure financial stewardship throughout the program lifecycle.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or MS/PhD preferred.

Experience:

4–6+ years of comprehensive program management experience, preferably in biotech or large pharma, including scientific/technical background.

Proven track record leading complex transformation or change management initiatives with successful outcomes.

Experience interacting with senior executives on complex initiatives.

Technical & Functional Skills:

Risk & Change Management: ability to identify risks, develop mitigation plans, and lead change efforts.

Cross-functional Leadership: ability to lead matrixed teams to deliver programs aligned with objectives.

Project Planning & Execution: build integrated program plans, manage interdependencies, and track milestones.

Stakeholder Communication: strong verbal and written communication; experience with executive updates.

Financial knowledge: experience with cost-based budgeting and seeking efficiencies; earned value analysis.

Certifications: PMP strongly preferred but not required.

Soft Skills:

Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.

Influencing, negotiating, and building consensus across organizational levels.

Problem-solving, analytical, and strategic planning capabilities.

Location and Work Type Location: Boston, MA. Worker Type: Employee. Time Type: Full time. This position is currently classified as hybrid under Takeda’s Hybrid and Remote Work policy.

Compensation and Benefits U.S. Base Salary Range: $153,600.00 - $241,340.00. The final offer depends on qualifications, experience, and location. U.S. employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-term incentives, medical/dental/vision coverage, 401(k) with company match, disability and life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, holidays, and well-being benefits.
