Cannabis Brand Chief Operating Officer (COO) Viridian Staffing's client is seeking an experienced Retail Leader to act as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of their Cannabis brand in the Newark, New Jersey area. This role requires on-site work, a reasonable commute to the facility, and availability to work nights and weekends. Some travel may be necessary to industry events, supplier meetings, or other dispensary locations. Founded in 2013, Viridian Staffing is the Original staffing, recruiting, and HR consulting firm solely dedicated to organizations in and supporting the commercial, medical, and industrial cannabis / hemp industry. In this role, you will work with the executive team to oversee all day-to-day operations including but not limited to HR, vendors, marketing, sales, operations, systems, and more. You should be able to run an efficient business with a focus on managing expenses and achieving financial targets for growth while pursuing continuous operational improvement. You will be an inspirational people manager and a servant leader who develops and refines standard operating procedures (SOPs) and implements the business strategies and plans developed by the CEO. You will drive strategic traditional and digital sales and marketing initiatives, use data to identify and implement key strategies, determine channels to invest in, and measure program effectiveness. You should be agile and capable of helping the organization pivot quickly. You will be expected to build, onboard, and develop high-performing teams, and be comfortable performing hands-on work as needed. Customer focus and maintaining the company’s reputation and stakeholder relationships are essential. Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree or higher in business, operations management or a related field, and 3+ years of professional retail management experience, including at least 1+ years managing a retail store and 1+ years of experience in retail within the Cannabis industry (preferably in the New Jersey market). Experience managing vendor relationships, developing sales strategies, channel/trade marketing, and overseeing loyalty programs is required. The role may require lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, standing for extended periods, and moving around the dispensary (including stairs, sweeping, and cleaning).
