Bring the Heat – We're Looking for a Welding Powerhouse
At American Exchanger Services, Inc. (AmX), we don't mess around when it comes to engineering excellence. We're industry leaders in designing and building high-pressure, high-performance heat exchangers for some of the most demanding applications on the planet—nuclear fusion, hydrogen production, and beyond. If you're a Welder/Fitter who can handle precision, pressure, and pride in your craft, we want to talk to you.
This isn't your average welding gig. This is hands-on, highly specialized fabrication with materials and tolerances that don't forgive sloppiness. We're a fast-paced, agile, and quality-obsessed team—and we need someone who can bring the skill, the hustle, and the swagger.
What You'll Be Doing:
Weld and fit large and small heat exchangers for extreme-pressure and specialty applications—no two jobs are the same.
Work with a variety of materials and processes—carbon, stainless, exotic alloys—you name it, we weld it.
Perform TIG and FCAW welding with mastery. SAW experience? Even better.
Pass a 6G open TIG root and heavy pipe test—yes, we're serious about quality.
Follow precise Welding Procedures (WPS) and adhere to ASME Section VIII, customer specs, and internal QC requirements like a boss.
Cut, grind, prep, and finish—whatever it takes to deliver world-class welds.
Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols with confidence and accuracy.
Complete QC reports and initial weld logs to keep everything traceable and compliant.Collaborate across departments—field crew, engineering, machining, and QC—to get the job done right the first time.
Take part in special projects in the field and the shop, often involving custom design and high-stakes performance.
Keep your tools organized, your workspace clean, and your attitude professional.
Train and mentor junior welders—because greatness is worth passing on.
What You Need to Bring:
Valid driver's license required.
ETF Employee Possessor Form eligibility (for handling high explosives—yes, really).
Experience in welding out-of-position, with x-ray and phased array UT-level inspection.
Knowledge of ASME welding standards and procedures, as well as ASNT testing methods.
Ship floor fabrication experience in a highly regulated, high-precision environment.
Strong skills in problem-solving, collaboration, and communication—this is not a solo act.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel—because documentation matters.
OSHA 10 card (or willingness to get one).
Ability to read, understand, and execute technical specifications and engineering drawings with zero hand-holding.
A sense of pride in your work, a sharp eye for detail, and the kind of attitude that says, "Let's get this done."
Why You'll Love It Here:
Work on cutting-edge projects that make a global impact.
Be part of a tight-knit, skilled, and passionate team that values integrity and innovation.
Enjoy a collaborative environment where your voice matters and your skills are respected.
Competitive salary, full benefits, and plenty of opportunity to grow with us.
This is more than a job. This is a calling for welders who know their worth and want to make their mark.
