Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Generator Field Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maintenance, mechanical, and electrical knowledge, particularly with marine generators. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of generator sets, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely. This role also involves the repair and maintenance of marine diesel engines, transmissions, and drive units. The majority of this work will be conducted outside of the shop. Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and repairs on generators (marine and stand-by), diesel engines, marine drives and transmissions (along with all related systems). Conduct vendor-specified diagnostics procedures to identify issues and determine necessary repairs. Utilize power tools and equipment to perform mechanical/electrical tasks effectively. Adhere to industry-standard marina access and behavior requirements. Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations while working. Document all maintenance and repair work performed on generators; provide customers detailed follow-up repair lists for their generators. Collaborate with team members to improve service efficiency and quality. Requirements Proven experience in generator maintenance, specifically with marine generators. Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot various systems. Familiarity with engine & generator lines such as Kohler, ONAN, Northern Lights, Kubota, Westerbeke, Volvo-Penta (IPS), Cummins, John Deere, Caterpillar, FPT, Nanni, and/or Yanmar. Experience using power tools safely and effectively. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
