Job Summary: The CMT Soil Lab Technician is responsible for performing laboratory tests on soil, aggregate, and other construction materials to determine their properties and compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements. This role ensures accurate, timely, and reliable test results to support field operations and client needs. Key Responsibilities: Perform laboratory testing on soil and aggregate samples (e.g., proctors, Atterberg limits, moisture-density relations, gradations, etc.). Follow ASTM, AASHTO, and company-specific testing procedures. Properly label, log, and track samples in the laboratory information system. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and calibration of lab equipment. Accurately record data, complete test reports, and submit results in a timely manner. Assist in preparing and maintaining quality control documentation. Communicate with field technicians, project managers, and supervisors regarding testing needs or discrepancies. Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (required). Previous laboratory or construction materials testing experience preferred but not required (training provided). Basic math and computer skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. regularly. Willingness to learn and obtain relevant certifications (e.g., ACI, NICET, TxDOT). Work Environment: Primarily laboratory-based with some interaction with field staff. May involve exposure to dust, dirt, noise, and materials under testing.
