Location: Rapid City, SD
Job Summary: Assist in maintaining City of Rapid City's parks, trails, and recreation facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate hand tools and other power equipment. Includes walk-behind and riding mowers.
Remove snow from walkways and spreads ice melt as necessary.
Operate power equipment to trim grass, shrubbery, trees, edge sidewalks, and around landscaping.
Pick up trash.
Perform custodial work in parks restrooms and shelters.
Clean pools and fountains.
Move materials, equipment, and supplies.
Transplant trees, shrubs, and flowers.
Perform irrigation repairs and minor maintenance to mowing equipment, buildings, structures.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
18 years of age or older
Basic knowledge and/or skills in landscaping, maintenance, or equipment operation
Valid drivers' license or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
Work Environment:
Job duties require regular hand use and arm reaching, frequent standing, walking, sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and crawling. Occasionally, tasks involve lifting/moving over 100 pounds and require the ability to talk, hear, taste, or smell. Necessary vision abilities include close, distance, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
