The Department of Revenue Services (DRS) seeks a Tax Division Chief to lead the Income Tax Subdivision in Hartford. Position Highlights
The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Instruct examiners to examine areas of potential liability, identify audit errors, and generate revenue through corrective actions and productive audit referrals or projects. The Income Tax Subdivision consists of 4 audit units and is responsible for auditing the largest population of taxpayers. About Us

In the Department of Revenue Services this class is accountable for directing the staff and operations of a Division in a Bureau or in the Central Office. Examples of Duties
Directs staff and operations of a Division in a Bureau or in the Central Office; Coordinates, plans and manages division activities; Formulates program goals and objectives; Develops or assists in development of related policy; Interprets and administers pertinent laws; Evaluates staff; Prepares or assists in preparation of division budget; Maintains contacts with individuals within and outside of division who might impact on program activities; Prepares necessary narrative, statistical and financial reports for tax management; Leads the recruitment and hiring of staff, including outreach, interview and selection; May assist in drafting proposed legislation; May act on behalf of Bureau Chief in their absence; Performs related duties as required. Knowledge, Skill and Ability
Considerable knowledge of management principles and practices, relevant state and federal laws, and tax administration practices; Knowledge of complex statistical methods and techniques; Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; Considerable analytical ability. Minimum Qualifications
General Experience: Ten (10) years of professional experience in tax administration. Special Experience: Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been in a supervisory capacity. Supervisory capacity is defined as scheduling, assigning, overseeing work, establishing performance standards and taking corrective action. Substitutions Allowed: College hours or degrees may substitute for General Experience; advanced degrees may substitute for additional years. A law degree or CPA/CIA may substitute for additional years of experience. Conclusion
