Who We Are: Community Shelter Board (CSB) leads a coordinated, community effort to make sure everyone has a place to call home. We bring together 16 agencies across Columbus and Franklin County, OH to work together as a cohesive system for change, driving strategy, accountability, collaboration, and resources. Our system served over 15,950 people last year with homelessness prevention, shelter, street outreach, rapid re-housing, and permanent supportive housing. CSB is funded by public and private partners including the City of Columbus, Franklin County, HUD, Ohio Development Services Agency, and other investors. What We Do: The mission of CSB is to lead a coordinated, community effort to ensure everyone has a place to call home. CSB focuses on driving strategy, accountability, collaboration, and resources to achieve the best outcomes for people facing homelessness. How We Do It: Diversion and Coordinated Entry, Prevention, Rapid Rehousing, Transitional Housing, and Supportive Housing. Position Summary

The Chief Development Officer (CDO) is a bold, mission-driven executive who transforms generosity into lasting impact. As the architect of CSB’s philanthropic strategy, the CDO leads with vision, influence, and heart, mobilizing the resources, relationships, and culture that power our mission. This high-profile leader cultivates powerful partnerships, inspires a thriving culture of giving, and steers a dynamic development team to exceed ambitious goals. With a sharp focus on campaign leadership, donor engagement, and strategic visibility, the CDO ensures CSB remains a trusted force among funders, civic leaders, and changemakers—mobilizing support for real, systemic change.

Note: This is a highly visible leadership position that requires a consistent in-office presence to support staff and executive functions, along with active participation in donor visits, strategic partnerships, and public-facing events. While much of the work occurs during standard business hours, this role requires flexibility and a readiness to work outside those hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, to represent CSB and advance high-impact initiatives in collaboration with elected officials, civic leaders, and community stakeholders. Must Haves

Fundraising Leadership:

10+ years of progressive experience spearheading comprehensive fundraising strategies, consistently exceeding ambitious revenue goals through cultivation of major gifts, expansion of donor portfolios, and execution of high-impact campaigns. Campaign and Donor Engagement Strategy:

Demonstrated mastery in designing and implementing integrated, multi-channel fundraising campaigns—leveraging events, digital platforms, storytelling, and targeted messaging to ignite donor passion and significantly increase philanthropic support. Executive Influence and Public Representation:

A commanding presence with the ability to inspire and engage in high-stakes boardrooms and public forums. Builds deep trust with C-suite executives, board members, major donors, government leaders, and community stakeholders; serves as a compelling and authentic ambassador of the mission. Board and Trustee Mobilization:

Expert at activating board members and trustees as strategic fundraising allies—delivering coaching, setting clear expectations, and empowering them to extend the organization’s reach and philanthropic impact. Strategic Planning and Enterprise Alignment:

A visionary leader with the foresight to anticipate sector shifts and craft bold, donor-aligned strategies for long-term growth. Aligns fundraising initiatives with organizational priorities across programmatic, operational, and financial domains to drive sustainable impact. Team Leadership:
