Your Role And Responsibilities
The HCP Identity & Access Management (IAM) engineering teams craft secure, scalable solutions for managing identities and access control within the HashiCorp Cloud Platform. Responsibilities include building authentication, authorization, and access control systems while delivering a seamless product experience for users, customers, and developers. This is a high-impact, high-visibility, fully remote role guided by HashiCorp principles. Collaboration with cloud partners and adherence to core values are essential. Design, prototype and implement features and tools while ensuring stability and usability Collaborate with Product Design, Product Management, engineers, and stakeholders Act as a subject matter expert on quality development with emphasis on Golang Lead and execute large-scale projects from design to implementation and troubleshooting Drive end-to-end project lifecycle including architecture design, implementation, and issue resolution Evaluate tradeoffs, remove blockers, and keep stakeholders informed Collaborate with internal teams, customers, and external stakeholders to design customer-focused solutions Advocate for strategic technical roadmap initiatives across teams Debug and resolve complex issues to improve quality and stability Review code for quality, patterns, and optimization opportunities Mentor engineers and promote best practices Facilitate team activities such as code pairing and group troubleshooting Support reliable production environments, including participating in on-call rotation Maintain quality through maintainable code and comprehensive testing This job can be performed from anywhere in the US Required Technical And Professional Expertise
At least 6+ years of engineering experience Expertise designing and building authorization systems (RBAC and ABAC) Experience building globally distributed systems in Golang, integrating with Identity-as-a-Service platforms and Cloud Provider Identity systems Experience with distributed systems on cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) focusing on scalability, resilience, and security Ability to direct work and influence others with strategic problem-solving Business acumen and customer focus with adaptability Cloud-native mindset and solid DevOps understanding Familiarity with cloud monitoring tools for observability (metrics, logging, tracing) Strong stakeholder management and cross-team communication Preferred Technical And Professional Experience
Experience using HashiCorp products (Terraform, Packer, Waypoint, Nomad, Vault, Boundary, Consul) Prior experience in cloud platform engineering teams Seniority level
