Our US West Design Studio is growing throughout the region and is looking for an Architect to join the team! In this role, you will assist with the evaluation, design, and implementation of new buildings and building alterations for a variety of project types in the commercial, industrial and federal market sectors. You will cooperate and work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, regional leads across the West, North America and GHD’s global network. Architectural Design: Design architectural solutions and the associated validation process to enable the realization of a design brief (functionality, aesthetics, and cost) that conforms to organizational and/or regulatory standards. Engineering Drawings: Create complex engineering drawings to support the communication, evaluation, and implementation of engineering solutions. Engineering Solutions Design: Contribute to the design of engineering solutions; design the feasibility testing approach and supervise its implementation to support the development and validation of engineering solutions. Building Surveys: Undertake building and technical surveys to determine the building condition and identify defects and associated risks. Includes conducting a wide range of surveys on complex sites. Construction Advice: Provide specialist professional advice relating to construction regulations and best practice with regard to complex maintenance, alteration, and construction of buildings. Building Information Modeling (BIM) System: Supervise the installation, operations, and maintenance of a building information modeling (BIM) system. Ensure systems are maintained and periodically upgraded. Coordinate building- and construction-related measurements. Review and endorse data, records, and base maps for future use. Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media. Feasibility Studies: Conduct feasibility studies from a technological and organizational perspective and document findings to complete cost-benefit analysis on implementing changes to business processes, products, or business unit structure. Bid Solicitation / RFP / Tender Analysis: Conduct complex feasibility studies from technological, financial, and organizational perspectives on bid solicitation, including RFP and RFT project requirements, and write specifications for tenders. Client & Customer Management (External): Manage relationships with small clients while also helping senior colleagues manage relationships with larger key clients and customers. Education
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture from a NAAB accredited program Experience
8+ years post graduate progressive experience in the field of architecture including substantial experience in developing details, planning and design support for design development. LEED Accreditation a plus Working knowledge of: Building systems, detailing and technology; Applicable codes, regulations, and standards; Design solution development; Differing building types and project delivery methods; Programming and planning methods Working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD Working knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop As a multicultural organization, we encourage individual achievement and recognize the strength of a diverse workforce.
