King & Sykes
Overview
Our client is a private equity–backed platform building high-performance data center infrastructure. Their focus is on solving the industry’s bottlenecks: securing strategic sites and delivering reliable, redundant power solutions at MW–GW scale. We are hiring a hands-on engineering leader and technical cornerstone who will serve as Engineer of Record, owning design-through-commissioning for MW–GW power and cooling plants, integrating reciprocating-engine generation with battery/microgrid and distribution systems, and ensuring seamless customer/partner integration. This is not purely managerial or investor-facing — we need an executor who can read drawings, make technical decisions, and drive field progress with EPCs and subcontractors. Note:
This job description describes the role and responsibilities for the position as posted by King & Sykes. Base pay range
$275,000.00/yr - $300,000.00/yr Key Responsibilities
Engineer of Record: Accept technical accountability for all engineering deliverables and compliance. Power & Cooling Delivery: Lead concept, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of power and cooling plants for mission-critical loads. Systems Integration: Architect and validate reciprocating engine + battery/microgrid + distribution topologies; ensure redundancy and reliability aligned to customer standards. Execution Leadership: Review and mark-up drawings, approve specs, drive schedule, and select/manage EPCs and subcontractors. Partner/Customer Coordination: Ensure seamless engineering handoffs with customer teams and shell builders. Ideal Profile
15–20 years in mission-critical power/utility-scale projects (power generation, utilities, electrical engineering). Track record building and operating distributed/engine-based power and integrating batteries/microgrids. Hands-on: can read drawings, make technical calls, and drive construction. Culture fit: low-ego, humble, able to explain complex systems clearly. Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred. Why Join
