White Horse Winery
Located in Hammonton, NJ on a 60 acre farm, White Horse Winery is one of New Jersey's most awarded and recognized wineries. We have a beautiful tasting room, indoor and outdoor seating areas including firepits and a lovely courtyard. We are open 6 or 7 days a week (seasonal hours) with live music and food trucks most every weekend and mid-week events most weeks.
As a Groundskeeper at White Horse Winery, you will play a vital role in maintaining the beauty, safety, and functionality of our grounds. You'll work outdoors, using power tools and hand tools to ensure our grounds, tasting areas, parking lot, and event spaces reflect the high standards our guests expect. With 60 acres of land and multiple outdoor seating areas, there is plenty of landscape to take care of.
Key Responsibilities:
· Landscape Maintenance
· Mow lawns, trim hedges, weed, rake leaves, edge walkways, and flower beds
· Plant, water, fertilize, and prune flowers, shrubs, and trees
· Control weeds, pests, and diseases using approved methods
· Assist vineyard team with trellising, leaf pulling, and debris removal as needed
· Maintain gravel roads, pathways, and parking areas
· Clear litter and debris throughout the property
· Winterize irrigation systems and protect young plants from frost
· Prepare beds for spring planting and oversee fall cleanup
· Perform snow removal on pathways and parking lots
Equipment Operation & Maintenance
· Operate mowers, trimmers, blowers, and tractors safely
· Perform routine maintenance checks, clean equipment, and report any mechanical issues
· Maintain accurate logs of maintenance and fuel usage
Event & Tasting Room & Cellar Support
· Ensure outdoor seating areas, patios, and walking paths are guest-ready
· Set up outdoor furniture, umbrellas, and signage for special events
· Provide support as needed during festivals and large tasting events
· Provide support as needed for Cellar operations
Safety & Compliance
· Follow all safety protocols and wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
· Adhere to pesticide application guidelines and maintain treatment records
· Report hazards or maintenance needs promptly to Management
Qualifications & Skills:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· 1–2 years of groundskeeping, landscaping, or horticultural experience (winery/vineyard experience a plus)
· Proficient in operating various power equipment and using hand tools
· Familiarity with small-engine equipment
· Basic knowledge of plant care, soil management, and pest control
· Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and reliability
· Excellent time-management skills and ability to follow instructions
· Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
· Flexible availability, including weekends and occasional evenings for events
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, work on uneven terrain, and perform repetitive tasks
· Prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
· Exposure to varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow)
· Ability to safely climb ladders and operate mechanized equipment
