Overview
The Director of Operations will lead and manage all manufacturing operations for a single-shift aerospace manufacturing facility. This role is crucial for ensuring production efficiency, quality control, and on-time delivery of products. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong background in aerospace manufacturing, able to manage a small, dedicated team and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Leadership: Direct and oversee all manufacturing processes, including production scheduling, quality assurance, and supply chain management.
Team Management: Lead and mentor a manufacturing team. Conduct performance reviews, provide training, and foster a positive and safe work environment.
Process Improvement: Champion and implement Lean Manufacturing principles to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and lower costs. Identify and drive process improvements.
Quality & Compliance: Ensure all products meet strict aerospace industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., AS9100). Maintain meticulous records and documentation for all manufacturing activities.
Safety: Develop and enforce safety protocols to ensure a secure workplace. Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions.
Budgeting & Planning: Manage the operations budget, including resource allocation, material purchasing, and capital expenditure planning.
Collaboration: Work closely with the engineering, sales, and quality departments to ensure seamless product development and delivery.
Qualifications
Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing leadership role, with at least 3 years in the aerospace or a related high-precision industry.
Experience working with defense contracts is strongly preferred.
Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, Operations Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control systems (AS9100), and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. Demonstrated expertise in Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a small team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Problem-Solving: A proactive and analytical mindset with a strong ability to solve complex operational challenges.
Certifications: Six Sigma Black Belt certification is preferred
Certifications in Lean Six Sigma or project management (PMP) are highly desirable.
