About ChRi Laboratories ChRi Laboratories, Inc. is an ISO/IEC 17025–accredited analytical testing laboratory approved by the State of Minnesota Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) to provide regulated testing services for medicinal cannabis, adult-use cannabis, and hemp-derived products. We partner with pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, biopharmaceutical, and research organizations to deliver high-quality, compliant, and defensible analytical data that supports product safety, regulatory compliance, and innovation. Position Summary The HPLC Scientist will be responsible for the execution of HPLC-based analytical methods for potency, purity, and stability testing of cannabis, hemp, and related regulated products. The position requires technical expertise in HPLC chromatography, and knowledge in Empower 3, rigorous attention to quality standards, and adherence to Minnesota OCM regulations, ISO/IEC 17025 requirements, and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Key Responsibilities Method Development & Validation Perform analysis using validated HPLC methods for cannabinoid profiling, and other analytes in compliance with Minnesota OCM regulations, ISO/IEC 17025, and applicable guidelines (USP, AOAC, ASTM, ICH). Occasionally, the scientist will be required to optimize and validate HPLC methods for new matrices. Apply scientific judgment in troubleshooting and improving method performance. Sample Analysis Perform potency and cannabinoid analyses on various cannabis and hemp matrices (flower, pre-rolls, vapes, edibles, concentrates, tinctures, beverages, and topicals). Accurately prepare calibration standards, mobile phases, and quality control samples. Ensure analytical sequences meet system suitability and quality control acceptance criteria. Instrument Operation & Maintenance Operate, calibrate, and maintain HPLC systems with UV/Vis, PDA, and MS detectors, including Waters Empower-controlled platforms and Agilent MassHunter-integrated systems. Perform routine and corrective maintenance, column care, and mobile phase preparation. Maintain complete and accurate instrument use, maintenance, and performance logs. Quality & Compliance Maintain strict adherence to ISO/IEC 17025 procedures, GLP requirements, and Minnesota OCM testing protocols. Ensure traceability and defensibility of all analytical results through accurate LIMS data entry and chain-of-custody documentation. Participate in internal audits, method proficiency testing, and CAPA implementation. Collaboration & Leadership Provide technical guidance to junior scientists and analysts on HPLC best practices. Work closely with QA and management to address method issues, compliance gaps, and client inquiries. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, SOP updates, and training programs. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field. Minimum 2–5 years of hands-on HPLC experience in a regulated analytical laboratory. Proficiency with Waters Empower chromatography data software; familiarity with Agilent MassHunter preferred. Strong knowledge of chromatographic theory, method validation principles, and instrument troubleshooting. Experience working in ISO/IEC 17025 or cGMP environments. Preferred: Cannabis/hemp testing experience in compliance with state regulations (Minnesota OCM or other jurisdictions). Familiarity with USP, AOAC, ASTM, and ICH guidelines for analytical testing. Experience with multi-detector systems and LC-MS workflows. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive pipetting. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Work with solvents, reagents, and potentially hazardous materials in compliance with PPE requirements. Why Join ChRi Laboratories?
