Job Description Liberation Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of culturally responsive pedagogy and a commitment to creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment for all students. This role requires the ability to teach science and social studies to middle school students (grades 5-8), integrating these subjects to provide a holistic and interconnected educational experience. Key Responsibilities Curriculum & Instruction: Develop and deliver engaging and rigorous lesson plans for science and social studies that align with state standards and Liberation Academy's mission. Culturally Responsive Teaching: Implement instructional strategies that are relevant to and inclusive of students' diverse backgrounds, experiences, and cultures. Assessment: Utilize a variety of formative and summative assessments to measure student progress and inform instruction. Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and productive classroom environment where all students feel respected and empowered. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with fellow teachers, staff, and parents to support student success and contribute to the school's overall community. Professional Development: Actively participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of best practices. Qualifications Experience: Previous experience teaching science and social studies at the middle school level is preferred. Education: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Education, History, Biology) is required. A master's degree is a plus. Certification: Valid state teaching certification is preferred, or a willingness to obtain certification. Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
