Chicago, IL The Assistant Project Manager (APM) will work closely with the Project Manager to plan, coordinate, and oversee construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role is ideal for a motivated professional who is detail-oriented, highly organized, and eager to grow into a full Project Manager position. About the employer 100 year plus, Chicago based, top 60 ENR GC who is looking to add Project Engineers to their growing teams! Diverse project portfolio: cold storage/food and beverage, high-rise, office, education, healthcare, institutional, luxury residential, aviation, retail, corporate interiors, senior living, hospitality 95% negotiated work (a ton of repeat business have followed some clients around the country but mostly Chicagoland work) 88% retention rate (they treat their people well so they stay) Giving back to the community is also a priority and spend 2000+ hours volunteering annually to local organizations & groups

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Project Manager in day-to-day project coordination, scheduling, and communication with all stakeholders. Help prepare and maintain project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and meeting minutes. Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, architects, and engineers to ensure timely delivery of project milestones. Monitor project progress and quality, ensuring compliance with contract documents and safety standards. Support budget tracking, cost reporting, and invoice approvals. Conduct site visits and assist with punch lists and project closeout activities.

Qualifications

Four-year construction-related degree or equivalent combination of related experience and technical training (1-4 years) Working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings, and specifications, building materials and required standards applicable to discipline Knowledge of Construction Management Software
