Overview
Our client is seeking a Utility Estimator to prepare cost estimates and proposals for high-voltage electrical projects. This role requires a candidate to work on a team and have the ability to build detailed estimates from project diagrams, designs, or verbal scopes of work. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of design drawings and engineering prints and be able to calculate job requirements such as quantities, resource hours, and duration from design documents.
Responsibilities
Analyze project plans, drawings, and specifications to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates for high-voltage electrical projects.
Conduct site visits and field walkdowns to assess site conditions and gather information for comprehensive pricing strategies.
Identify and evaluate labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, and other related documents.
Build a high-level or detailed estimate from a project diagram, detailed design, or verbal scope of work.
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate estimations and project execution.
Prepare and present estimates by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
Maintain and update cost databases to reflect current market conditions and pricing.
Perform calculations to determine job requirements from design documents, including quantities, resource hours, and durations.
Required Skills & Experience
1-5 years of experience in construction estimating.
Bachelor's degree in a Business, Finance, or Technical field.
Experience with High Voltage Electrical Construction.
Ability to read and understand construction drawings and blueprints.
Proficiency in standard software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Project.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong understanding of design drawings, detailed engineering, and construction prints.
