Nursing Assistant Position
Fairview is looking for a Nursing Assistant at the M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN! This position is for 56 hours per two weeks on the night shift, for 8 hour shifts, and every other weekend, and is eligible for benefits such as medical, dental, and more. About this Unit: Med/Surg Medical at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital is a high-volume, 32-bed medical unit with 18 telemetry beds, known for its exceptional teamwork, strong communication, and supportive culture. The care teamincluding RNs, Nursing Assistants, and Nursing Station Techniciansmanages a diverse adult patient population, from respiratory and GI conditions to infectious diseases and substance use disorders. With a focus on professional development and patient- and family-centered care, Med/Surg Medical offers a dynamic and rewarding environment for both new and experienced clinical staff. Job Responsibilities: Assisting the professional nurse/caregiver in the delivery of patient care Transporting patient and/or equipment Setting up and maintaining patient rooms Reordering and stocking of supplies Personal grooming, bathing, toileting, feeding Skin care needs (clean and sterile dressing changes), applying ointments/creams Oral hygiene Specimen collection/testing Position/ambulating Changing linens Promptly answering call lights Assisting the nurse in monitoring patient condition Accurately taking and recording weights, input/output, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rates, respiration, oxygen saturation Placing patient on/off monitors or equipment Reporting unusual findings to the RN in a timely manner Assisting with admissions, transfers, and discharge of patients Orienting patient and their family to the environment Assuring the patient's belongings are accounted for, documented upon admission, transfer and discharge Transporting patients, equipment, specimen and supplies Assuring patients get to appointments on time Using transfer belt when assisting patients with transfers and/or ambulation Cleaning, setting up, and maintaining rooms and equipment Ordering and stocking supplies Accurately documenting tasks performed on appropriate form Performing other tasks as needed Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required AND ONE or more of the following: Successful completion of Fairview's OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire Benefit Overview: Fairview offers a generous benefits package, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, PTO/vacation and Safe and Sick Time, tuition reimbursement, retirement and more!
