Overview
Senior Business Analyst position to support two high-impact initiatives within the Department of Education and Department of Corrections. You will work on NexSys Grants Management System and Corrections Offender Management System (COMS), collaborating with state agencies, vendors, and IT teams to drive system enhancements, data cleansing, and enterprise-level planning. Responsibilities
Education (MDE) - NexSys Project: Support operations of a grants management platform handling 100+ applications and over $2B in state education funding. Analyze business flows and write system requirements supporting grants processes. Corrections (MDOC) - COMS Project: Lead data cleansing, integration planning, and forward bridge implementation with external vendors. Serve as business analyst liaison between MDOC and DTMB development teams. Develop action plans, conduct impact analysis, and implement test strategies. Escalate project issues and risks and engage in strategic planning as IT system owner. Participate in large-scale procurement and RFP preparation activities. Required Experience
Experience gathering/documenting functional and technical requirements Experience in data cleansing and system integration projects Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Visio, MS Project Knowledge of secure software development lifecycle, Agile, and traditional methodologies Experience with system analysis, swim lanes, sequence diagrams, and use cases Proven ability to lead joint application development (JAD/JAR) sessions Strong project estimation, planning, and forecasting background Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills Nice-to-Have Experience
Experience drafting IT RFPs and leading state-level procurement Familiarity with MDOC or MDE systems SQL query creation and analysis Experience working with vendors and managing application interfaces Required Skills
Business analysis and requirements gathering Project planning and stakeholder communication Agile and SDLC familiarity Preferred Skills
Data modeling and business process reengineering Diagramming and documentation (e.g., use cases, swim lanes) Procurement and RFP writing Knowledge of state-level systems and compliance Additional Skills
