Definition of Class

* This is a professional position responsible for preparing the County's trust & agency reporting as well as recording cash activities, preparing complex analysis of accounting records and reports under the direction of the Manager of Accounting.

Duties & Responsibilities

* Records daily cash transaction in cash ledger. Reconciles cash ledger to the general ledger. Inputs and prepares journal entries in preparation of monthly financial statements, including void checks and other related accounting transactions. Approves and posts cash receipts batches. Assists in the analysis of financial records. Accounts for airfare and travel advances. Understands general ledger accounts and budgeted line items.

* Works with various manual and computerized trust & agency accounting systems to record and report the monthly financial position and results of operation of the County trust & agency accounts. Prepares annual audit trust and agency schedules. Accounts for unclaimed property and submits annual report. Performs other accounting and administrative duties as assigned by the Manager of Accounting.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

* General knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, methods and practices of governmental accounting. Knowledge of the County's accounting system and financial policies and procedures a plus. Ability to prepare journal entries, analyze accounts, and input data accurately and in a timely manner. Working knowledge of computer applications including but not limited to spreadsheet, payroll, financial management, and word processing software. Ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written form with employees, vendors, and the public.

Minimum Requirements

* Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field

* Minimum of 2 years of Accounting Experience
