This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Boston Field Office, Port of Providence, located in Providence, Rhode Island. In this position, you will strengthen the Department's ability to protect the homeland by becoming a valuable member of a team of administrative professionals. Your job will include: performing assignments requiring the application of fundamental principles, concepts, techniques, and guidelines in an administrative specialty area(s); conducting detailed planning to gather and interpret information and data for complex problems, issues, and unusual circumstances; identifying ways to improve or enhance current services and to ensure that such services meet management's business objectives; assessing situations that are complicated by conflicting and/or incomplete data, requiring general problem solving to isolate issues. Experience: You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and procedures; analyzing and reconciling discrepancies or inconsistencies; resolving a moderate range of problems or situations requiring the use of established analytical techniques; developing supportable conclusions based on standardized research. Experience: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: coordinating and monitoring a variety of administrative projects (e.g., budget, personnel, travel, space, logistics); identifying and recommending solutions to a wide range of administrative problems; analyzing administrative data from a variety of sources to develop trends, patterns, profiles, estimates, and studies; preparing preliminary and finished reports and documents.
