Responsibilities

This is a permanent, full-time position with the Corporate Services Department. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this position is responsible for the efficient processing and reconciliation of general ledger entries and accounts for the City of Cold Lake. Key duties include:

• Reconcile monthly bank statements and ensure accurate month-end processes.
• Provide guidance on G/L coding and project costing; support department staff to ensure smooth finance operations city-wide.
• Maintain grants: reconciliation, follow-up, and compliance; assist managers in grant maintenance and the preparation of year-end working papers.
• Handle GST returns, tangible capital assets, project costing, and the grant portfolio; assist with insurance as required.
• Deliver exemplary internal and external customer service to departments and the public.

Qualifications & Competencies

• Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Completion or near completion of a professional accounting designation such as CMA, CGA, CA, or CPA.
• Minimum of 34 years accounting experience, preferably in a municipality or government setting.
• Knowledge of the PSAB and Municipal Government Act is an asset.
• Strong organizational and computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and accounting/payroll software.
• Customer focus, confidentiality, and exceptional communication skills.
• Criminal Record Check and annual Drivers Abstract required.
