Position Summary Reporting to the school leader and under the direction of the Education Specialist or other certificated employee, the Paraeducator will primarily assist by performing a variety of academic and behavior support duties for individual or small groups of students within the special education classroom, regular classroom, and other school settings (in-person and virtual). These duties are designed to complement the instructional program to maximize learning opportunities for students in various educational settings. The Paraeducator will assist in the establishment and implementation of appropriate classroom and school-wide behavior and help students access all aspects of the educational environment. This role is paid over a 12-month period, including scheduled school breaks and summer break. The salary range is $20.92 - $24.84/hour. This rate, with additional 60 days of school break pay, results in annualized pay that is, on average, higher than district peers.

Responsibilities

Assist students in small groups or one-to-one to reinforce or follow up learning activities in core academic, language, and/or specialized subject areas (in-class and distance learning). Support behavior intervention plans, including positive reinforcement strategies and behavior modification, to establish and maintain appropriate behaviors. Facilitate social interactions and foster positive relationships between students with disabilities and their non-disabled peers. Model appropriate behavior, provide emotional support and general guidance to students. Support students during field trips, school assemblies, or productions. Provide testing accommodations and supervise testing in a separate location or with extended time as needed. Provide the Education Specialist with information on student progress through observation and data trackers. Maintain a clean, safe, and cooperative classroom and learning environment. Assist physically disabled students with personal hygiene and self-care tasks as needed. Report suspected health problems to appropriate school personnel and maintain confidentiality of student records per legal requirements and KIPP policies. Maintain instructional program in case of temporary absence of the Education Specialist. Attend and participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and Student Study Meetings. Engage in professional growth opportunities provided by KIPP Bay Area Public Schools. Maintain consistent and on-time attendance and adhere to health and safety guidelines per CDC, CDE, and public health agencies recommendations. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Experience

Paid or volunteer experience working with individuals with academic, behavioral, or functional needs is preferred.

Education

Title I paraprofessionals duties include instructional support and must have: High school diploma or equivalent, and either an A.A. degree or a B.A. degree (or minimum 48 units in process) or pass the ETS ParaPro Assessment (passing score 460).

Physical, Mental and Environmental Demands

Physical:
