Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree or substantial career experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Preferred Certification: AWS Cloud Certification (AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or Professional)

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 7+ years of enterprise IT experience with a blend of architecture and hands-on engineering Proven experience designing and implementing AWS solutions in enterprise or government settings Prior direct, hands-on experience supporting cloud migrations at scale Demonstrated success supporting mission-critical applications with high visibility and uptime expectations Proficiency in both Windows Server administration and Linux systems (RHEL or Amazon Linux) Strong experience with Terraform, Ansible, and GitHub/GitHub Actions Familiarity with AWS-native container services such as ECS, Fargate, and EKS, with practical experience deploying or supporting containerized workloads in production Hybrid storage expertise: experience with NetApp, caching appliances, or FSx for ONTAP Strong scripting and automation capabilities (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) Baseline familiarity with modern AI technologies, including Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) patterns in cloud-native architectures Experience with GitHub Enterprise, branching strategies, and DevSecOps practices Exposure to multi-account AWS organizations and hybrid networking design

Client is seeking 2 experienced and well-rounded Senior Cloud Engineers (with architecture experience) to join our core enterprise cloud operations and modernization team. Senior Cloud Engineers with complementary skillsets - one focused on Infrastructure & Automation and the other on Support & Operations. These individuals will provide day-to-day support across AWS and hybrid on-premises environments, ensuring stability, performance, and uptime of mission-critical, public-facing systems. In addition to operational support, the engineers will also contribute to modernization efforts - including lift-and-shift, re-platforming, containerization, and integration of emerging technologies - working with senior architects to guide longer-term strategy while driving hands-on execution.

Ideal Candidate profile: Equally comfortable whiteboarding architecture and writing automation scripts. Able to work across silos, bring people together, and guide consensus. Thrives in high-accountability, low-handholding environments. Operates with a disruptor mindset - challenges outdated models, while navigating government dynamics with diplomacy.

Key Responsibilities: Design and implement enterprise cloud solutions within a hybrid architecture (AWS + on-prem). Participate in modernization of legacy systems through lift-and-shift, re-platforming, containerization, and refactoring Build and manage CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible),and automated workflows via GitHub Actions and similar tooling Collaborate on hybrid storage strategies leveraging NetApp ONTAP and caching appliances integrated with AWS Apply expertise across both Windows Server and Linux (RHEL/Amazon Linux) environments Serve as a key contributor in cross-functional architecture discussions and migration planning Ensure alignment with governance, tagging, security, and operational policies Troubleshoot technical issues across the stack: compute, network, storage, identity, and containers.
