Waiter Position At Hale Koa Hotel
Serves as a waiter in the banquet department of the Hale Koa Hotel. Duties are performed independently in accordance with accepted trade practices and guides. Waiters are assigned stations by the supervisor and given any special instructions necessary. Major duties include taking orders for alcohol, non-alcoholic beverages, and food items from menus, being familiar with all available food and beverage items, ordering drinks from bartender and delivering to guest, maintaining sales records, and collecting cash or payment by credit card from guest. Additionally, waiters clean, reset, and arrange tables, remove used glassware, china, and silverware to the steward area for cleaning, and perform other duties as assigned. Skills and knowledge required include the ability to follow oral and written instructions and prepare guest checks. Responsibility for cash receipts and compliance with accountability procedures is also required. Physical efforts involve standing and walking for long periods, lifting and carrying items weighing up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 20 pounds. Working conditions are primarily indoors with adequate light and ventilation, though there is a danger of slipping on wet or polished floors. Qualifications include meeting state/local age requirements for the servicing of alcoholic beverages, possessing basic math skills necessary to compute patron bills and make change, and being able to communicate effectively in English.
