Software Engineering Manager
This position is 100% remote within the United States. Unfortunately, Henry Schein One is unable to hire individuals residing in Alaska, North Dakota, Hawaii, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Puerto Rico, or other US Territories at this time. This role will only consider W2 candidates and not C2C candidates. Our team is looking for a hands-on Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of talented Software Engineers working on our Insurance Claims Eligibility domain. As a SWE Manager you will mentor team members in code reviews and regular 1:1's. You will efficiently break down work, build an amazing team and deliver great products. You will also leverage your technical expertise as you write SOLID code in each sprint. This role will typically have between 5 and 10 direct reports including Software Engineers and Software Engineers in Test (remote and nearshore). SWE Managers also work closely with Product Managers, Architects, and other technical and business stakeholders. What You Will Do Hire, retain and build top talent Lead your team of engineers and build a culture of excellence Actively participate in and manage all phases of development from ideation, implementation, to post-deployment issue resolution for your team Develop strong partnerships with other engineering leaders, DevOps, product, architecture, and other key areas of the business Own the problem and scope solutions that line up with business objectives Support and champion the continued evolution of our Agile culture and Scrum best practices Contribute code to build, maintain and support systems as needed Qualifications Must Haves Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related degree or equivalent professional experience Prior experience as a Software Engineering Manager with a team of direct reports 7 or more years of hands-on software engineering experience using Java and a solid understanding of backend systems and SAS applications Ability to influence and build relationships Ability to effectively manage conflict Excellent written and verbal communication Excellent decision-making skills Technologies We Use Java Spring Boot SQL (MS SQL Server) RabbitMQ / Kafka Containerization (Docker) Micro-Service Architecture React / Next.js The posted range for this position is $109,000 - $173,000 which is the expected starting base salary range for an employee who is new to the role to fully proficient in the role. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity, etc. This position is eligible for a 12.5% bonus not reflected in the posted range.
