What The Role Entails
The Electrical Commissioning Manager will collaborate with the construction team to ensure that data center projects meet CloudHQs operational requirements with excellence. Responsibilities include overseeing the design, installation, and testing of all components, materials, equipment, and systems. The role involves commissioning mission-critical systems such as generators, backup power supplies, and digital electrical distribution equipment. The manager will review design packages, monitor equipment tests, and ensure testing is executed properly to optimize data center operation.

This is an on-site role requiring travel. Candidates must be located in the Washington, DC metro area. Requirements: What You Will Do Monitor and maintain data center project tasks, tracking budget, schedule, and scope of work. Serve as the main point of contact with the client during commissioning activities and project completion, liaising between the client and internal teams. Review all written work submitted to the client. Assist in developing, reviewing, and implementing the commissioning plan, including construction phases. Conduct pre-construction commissioning meetings. Attend construction progress and pre-installation meetings to stay informed on progress. Review construction meeting minutes for design revisions or substitutions, resolving discrepancies. Assist in reviewing the commissioning schedule and integrating it into the overall project schedule. Thoroughly review design documents at the end of the Construction Documents Phase and coordinate design changes. Develop full commissioning specifications for all equipment. Inspect installation and witness functional testing on-site, observing and documenting component and system installations. Coordinate with the IT liaison on control systems issues. Oversee the execution of commissioning tests to verify correct installation, functionality, and safety. Assist in developing and executing test procedures to verify electrical system performance and compliance. Help develop engineering standards and best practices. Perform readiness reviews to support building acceptance. Validate and attend training for operations personnel. Review final third-party commissioning reports. Travel to sites, meetings, training, or conferences as needed. Coordinate Factory Acceptance and Witness tests with development staff. What You Bring Minimum 7 years of experience in electrical commissioning, preferably in data centers or critical facilities. Understanding of data center and electrical building systems. Knowledge of local codes and standards such as NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and ASHRAE. Strong business acumen and meticulous attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with commissioning software is a plus. Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multitask. Assertive personality to ensure process completion. Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and relationship management skills. Willingness to travel and respond to after-hours emergencies.
