WHAT DOES A CUSTOMS SPECIALIST DO?
Responsible for executing the import of tax paid cargo, importation into the Foreign Trade Zone and export processes, ensuring compliance with domestic and international laws, and facilitating the smooth transit of goods across borders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Compliance: Ensure all import, export and Foreign Trade Zone activities comply with applicable laws and regulations.
Documentation: Prepare and submit accurate documentation required for the clearance of goods through customs.
Classification: Classify goods according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule and determine appropriate duty rates.
Consultation: Provide guidance on customs requirements, tariffs, shipping restrictions, and other trade-related matters.
Record Keeping: Maintain records of all customs entries, duty payments, and other relevant transactions.
Auditing: Conduct internal audits of customs entries and processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Communication: Liaise with customs officials, shipping companies, and clients to resolve any issues that may arise during the clearance process.
Responsible for the preparation, monitoring and recording all U.S. Customs Foreign Trade Zone transactions.
Calculate duty and tariff payments owed on shipments and validate brokerage accounts and payments.
Ensure Bacardis Customs Software is maintained with accurate Master Data Information, CBMA, MID Codes and Customer information.
Drive continuous improvement.
Perform other duties as assigned.
