Responsibilities
The Executive Director (RN) in Hospice supervises all aspects of patient care, all activities of professional staff and allied health personnel, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and quality assurance/performance improvement activities for the agency. The Executive Director or alternate will be available on-site during business hours and additionally, if needed. Directs compliance with all regulations, laws, policies, and procedures applicable to hospice and Medicare/Medicaid issues on a daily basis. Immediately available (or has Alternate Designee) to be on-site during business hours or immediately available by telephone when off-site conducting agency business; available after hours as needed. Directs day-to-day operations of the agency and leads the Care Management Process. An RN designee (e.g., a Patient Care Manager) will receive daily patient reports and review patient care paperwork, referral information, recertification processes, discharge information, and event reporting on a daily basis. Reviews monthly financials to ensure quality patient care is delivered in a cost-effective manner. Participates in QAPI planning, reporting, and improvement action plans, including chart audits, patient satisfaction, financials, contracts, patient/family complaints, and appropriate follow-up.
Education and Experience
License Requirements Must be a licensed physician; licensed registered nurse; licensed social worker; or a Bachelor's degree with at least three (3) years of documented success in the discipline/field of study and a minimum of one (1) year of full-time experience in a hospice, home health, or other health care delivery system setting. Three (3) years of health care leadership preferred. Current CPR certification required for Executive Directors who may provide services to patients in the field. Current Driver's License and vehicle insurance, and access to a dependable vehicle, or public transportation. Additional State Requirements GA: Must be a licensed nurse practitioner, physicians assistant, registered nurse, clinical social worker, physical therapist, or psychologist with at least one year of supervisory or management experience in a hospice setting or an individual with education, training, and experience in health services administration and at least two years of supervisory or management experience in a hospice setting.
