Buyer
The Buyer's job involves sourcing, purchasing, and managing the supply of electrical cables, devices and related materials for the company. He/she evaluates suppliers, negotiates contracts, and ensures that the purchased items meet quality standards and budget requirements. This includes managing the entire purchase life cycle, from requisition to receipt, and resolving any discrepancies in order fulfillment. Key responsibilities include: Plan, purchase, expedite, and manage purchase materials in support of production schedule, and aligned with orders and forecasts to support production needs. Generate and adjust purchase orders in support of the SIOP requirements and effectively communicate areas of concern and escalations to appropriate purchasing individuals, departments, and suppliers. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, particularly for electrical parts, to secure favorable terms on pricing and delivery. Engage in price/term negotiations to mitigate cost increases and obtain cost savings. Negotiate and arrange optimal delivery schedules and terms with vendors for electrical components and equipment. Evaluate and maintain the material requirements plan for assigned commodities and ensure systems validity and integrity by inputting and adjusting records according to company and/or department guideline. Recommend and implement updates to standard costs based on market analysis and vendor pricing trends. Obtain and clarify information on customer needs and product preferences by working with sales and purchasing teams. Prepare quotes for new customer assembly builds and existing business. Coordinate with Sales and Operations to manage rush orders and address expected delays in materials or purchased parts. Participate in the Production planning meeting, ensuring effective communication and timely delivery to meet customer expectations. Authorize payment of invoices, handle returns of defective merchandise, and resolve any discrepancies in order fulfillment. Attend meetings as needed to support cross-functional team objectives. Required education and experience: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or any technical field. Three (3) or more years of experience. Preferred education and experience: Experience with purchasing electrical components is preferred. Experience with SAP procurement processes is a must. High level of attention to detail with strong analytical and decision-making skills. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to effectively collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams. Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting to meet production deadlines and supply chain goals. Travel: Up to 25%.
