Resident Service Support Specialist (DWDM)
Coho Technology Solutions is seeking a Resident Service Support Specialist to provide on-site technical expertise in support of mission-critical IT systems at Quantico, VA. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing IT and transport network systems to ensure reliable day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with deep technical expertise in DWDM transport systems, strong system administration skills, and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer support in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Responsibilities (include but are not limited to): Operate, monitor, and maintain Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) transport networks. Diagnose and resolve issues related to optical transmission, equipment failures, and signal degradation. Provision, test, and integrate new DWDM circuits and devices. Collaborate with vendors and service providers to optimize performance and reliability. Provide first-line technical support for hardware, software, and network-related issues. Monitor and maintain IT systems, servers, workstations, and network equipment. Perform regular updates, patches, and backups to ensure system integrity and security. Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, and network infrastructure. Maintain IT asset inventory and coordinate procurement, upgrades, and repairs. Support and document IT change management activities, including risk assessments and training. Ensure compliance with IT security standards, policies, and regulatory requirements. Prepare system performance reports and maintain detailed logs of support activities. Essential Job Qualifications and Requirements: Education Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Experience Minimum 3 years of experience in technical support or IT systems administration. Hands-on experience with DWDM transport systems, including provisioning and maintenance. Knowledge of optical transport systems and experience transitioning Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) technologies to DWDM. Technical Skills Proficiency in operating systems, including Windows, macOS, Red Hat, and Linux. Expertise with DWDM management tools such as Ciena Site Manager and Ciena Manage, Control, and Plan (MCP) Domain Controller. Strong understanding of networking protocols, hardware, and troubleshooting tools. Familiarity with IT frameworks and change management practices. Certifications DWDM Transport certifications compliant with DoD 8140.03M (required). Other Requirements Availability for occasional after-hours or weekend work to support critical issues or system updates.
