Basic Function and Responsibility

Under general supervision, oversee the operational activities of a Service Center (Computer Lab), provide support for live events, and provide customer service to faculty, staff and students. Coordinate, train and monitor student employees; assist users with the use of Information Technologies. Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Provide technical support to faculty, staff, students and campus visitors on the use of Oakton Information Technologies in Offices, Classrooms, Labs, and Special Event Venues including lab-specific software and hardware. Monitor incoming requests for technical assistance (tickets) and resolve them within SLA periods. Escalate to other team members as needed or depending on complexity. Work closely within the IT team to support installations of new hardware and software; maintenance of current hardware and software; decommissioning of obsolete hardware and uninstallation of software applications as needed. Support the Service Desk in monitoring and answering phone calls, create tickets and assign them to appropriate individuals. Ensure that computer labs (open access and classrooms) are always up to the standards to ensure quality teaching and learning. This includes access to necessary software applications, internet, printing and resources required in a well-maintained academic setting. Identify areas for improvement, make recommendations and assist in the implementation of identified solutions. Provide data to help supervisors make informed decisions. Train student employees on performing day-to-day tasks; ensure that the focus is on solving. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Supervision Received

Administrative supervision is received from the Lead IT Technical Associate. Supervision Exercised

Functional supervision is exercised over student employees. Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

Associate's degree including coursework in computer science and/or data processing is required; an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired may be considered in lieu of the degree. Work experience with Microsoft Windows-compatible and Macintosh microcomputers, network operations and/or other microcomputer systems. Two years of experience with software programs and peripherals specific to academic labs. Ability to work evenings/weekends as needed. Preferred Qualifications

Prior supervisory experience. Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Light lifting up to 20 lbs. and light carrying up to 20 lbs. Ability to reach above shoulder. Periods of time spent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending and stooping. Mobility to move from building to building on campus and to visit off-campus entities. Work is performed in a general office environment and is sedentary in nature. Little or no exposure to adverse working conditions. Additional Information

Salary:

The hourly salary of this position is $23.97 which equates to $48,310 annualized based on Oakton's summer hours schedule. HOURS:

Monday 9:15 am - 6:00 pm; Tuesday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:45 pm (Ability to work evenings/weekends as needed) Hybrid schedule:

Based on the needs of the college and with Administrator approval, some positions at the college may have a hybrid schedule option available after 30 working days.
