Shipping- Receiving Assistant
Location - Lorain, OH 44052
Duration - 12+ contract with possibility of extension or FTE
Shift - Standard (M-F)
Duties:
Perform shipping duties daily. Coordinate activities required to verify and keep records on shipments. Receive returns, arrange collection, and provide tracking. Label and palletize shipments for safe shipping. ssemble and pack orders for dispatch. Load and unload incoming truck lines. Complete deliveries and pickups. Maintain shipping/receiving areas in neat and orderly manner. Clean out excess cardboard, strapping and pallets daily. Docks inside and out must be kept swept, trash picked up and unnecessary pallets put away. Perform backup as needed. Follow department policies, procedures and objectives for continuous quality improvement and safety. ssist with production needs as needed. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Support ISO Quality System and Policy, continuous Improvement efforts and utilize Lean Manufacturing Principles. Receive incoming shipments physically and in IQMS. Keep current with all aspects of shipping vendors' software on computer, which includes email notifications, international paperwork. Perform incoming material inspections and checks when required ble to respond to customer demand through personal commitment when required Check items to be shipped against sales or work orders to ascertain quantities, destinations and routing are correct. Contact carriers to make arrangements and issue instructions for shipping and delivery of products. Help trace, track and provide proof of deliveries when needed. Be proficient with carrier's web sites Prepare necessary documentation to route shipments To work within all areas in a professional manner
Skills:
bility to use a forklift and hand truck. Can involve lifting to 25kgs or 40lbs. Interpersonal skills, team working skills and good communication skills. Current full UK or US driving license
Education:
High School equivalency, 2-4-year technical degree or BA degree preferred. Two or more years' experience in shipping, receiving, and/or warehouse preferred.
Minimum Degree Required:
Completed High School (Diploma or GED)
