Overview
Purpose of position:
The Chief Financial Officer is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing all financial functions of the organization. This includes financial planning and strategy, financial reporting, risk management, capital management and compliance. The CFO provides strategic guidance to the CEO and Board of Directors to ensure the financial stability and growth of the organization. Education/Experience/Licensure
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ experience in a CFO or similar role, or 10 to 15 years of job-related experience. 5+ years preferably in a nonprofit setting Previous experience with insurance and legal Fundamental duties
Finance Legal Corporate Other duties as assigned o Direct and evaluate the organization’s fiscal functions and performance o Supervise Finance Manager, Billing Department and Credentialing Specialist/Payroll Administrator o Evaluate the finance area structure, ensuring continual improvement of efficiency and effectiveness o Maintaining 501(c)(3) status o Banking § Maintain banking relationships and related accounts § Negotiate financing and line of credit § Negotiate all major leases § Report on PRI loans o Cash Flow § Monitor cash flow, and control cash § Approve capital purchases and major expenditures § Approve unusual payroll expenditures and offer letters o Develop and enforce written financial policies o Accounting § Review general ledger, making needed adjustments, and close fiscal months/years § Reconciliation of major bank accounts and loans § Entry of selected vendor invoices § Maintain LeaseCrunch software (lease amortization tracking) o Budgeting § Approve all grant budgets, track grant expenditures and related reporting § Coordinate budget development § Create compensation, fixed assets and major expenses budget o Reporting § Provide accurate analysis, trends and financial reporting § Perform cost accounting and financial analysis § Manage annual financial audits and Form 990 preparation § Assist with annual 401(k) and work comp audits § Census Bureau reporting § Calculate and report incentive program results o Maintain Affordable Plan (sliding scale plan) o Maintain employer tax accounts in all relevant states o Maintain and apply for property tax exemptions o Coordinate financial aspects of capital projects o Maintain adequate insurance on all exposures; coordinate insurance claims o Determine employee benefits package and contribution rates in conjunction with HR Director Legal o Liaise with company attorney(s) o Review contracts; approve contracts; maintain contract files o Maintain good standing with Attorney General’s Office, Board of Dentistry, and Secretary of State Corporate o Attend all Board of Director meetings o Call meetings of the Finance Committee o Review of board meeting agendas and minutes for accuracy o Participate in the development of strategic plans o Provide backup to Secretary of the Board
