Overview The Marketing and Events Coordinator (MEC) is an entry-level, full-time position that provides forward-thinking and creative support to the Fisherman’s Wharf Community Benefit District (FWCBD) by coordinating all marketing and events administrative efforts. The MEC will work closely with the FWCBD team, partner organizations, and district businesses to grow and improve brand recognition for the district and its business operators. This position reports to the Deputy Director.

Marketing Support the Deputy Director (DD) in establishing and evaluating the organization’s marketing strategy and plan, elevating the organization’s brand identity, and developing marketing that reflects the community. Ideate and implement marketing campaigns to promote activations and events, services, or district initiatives and promotions. Maintain and update fishermanswharf.org website content for accuracy and brand alignment. Develop digital and print assets; create and design flyers, social media graphics, signage, and other materials aligned with the brand. Write and edit copy for web pages, event listings, and blog/news updates; conduct SEO-focused content optimization. Track, analyze, and report performance metrics to inform data-driven decisions. Social Media Develop a comprehensive social media strategy with KPIs for six FWCBD accounts. Create engaging platform-specific content (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok) and manage scheduling across accounts. Track performance metrics, prepare regular reports, and monitor trends to optimize engagement and reach. Respond professionally to comments, messages, and inquiries across platforms. Events Follow event guidelines and templates to plan, budget, permit, and track progress. Research and identify event opportunities; propose concepts to the Deputy Director. Identify and coordinate vendors, performers, artists, and other participants; assist with onsite setup and execution. Procure event equipment, materials, and supplies; contribute to marketing efforts for events. Assist with event surveys, attendance tracking, and post-event reports. Administration Support the DD in reporting efforts in compliance with Port of San Francisco grant and City of San Francisco requirements. Maintain accuracy of records in SharePoint; assist with office tasks such as inventory management, filing, data entry, and answering phones. Other Knowledge of industry regulations; experience with marketing tools (Adobe Suite, Google Analytics, Canva, Google Ads, web development). Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Event Management, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2+ years of experience in marketing, events, and/or PR; experience in nonprofit/urban placemaking or community-centered work preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; website data entry and social media platform familiarity. Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills; proficient writing skills for emails, memos, and reports. Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and adapt to changing priorities; professional communication with diverse audiences. Physical ability to stand and walk for long periods and lift approximately 40 lbs as needed; flexible to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required. Work Environment This position is onsite at the FWCBD office in San Francisco with regular interaction with staff, partners, and the public. A work-from-home schedule may be established at the discretion of the Executive Director based on organizational needs. Compensation and Benefits Starting salary range is $70,000 - $80,000, commensurate with experience.
